Every gymnast starts somewhere-and Riley Davis remembers exactly how it felt to walk into the gym for the first time.
The equipment looked enormous, the balance beam seemed impossibly narrow, and everyone else appeared to know what they were doing. Now Riley and her best friend, Addisyn, are helping Coach Mia welcome a new group of beginners to their first gymnastics class.
Through Riley's encouraging adventure, young readers will discover what gymnasts wear, why warming up matters, and how beginners safely start learning forward rolls, handstands, cartwheels, balance beam, uneven bars, vault, and floor exercise. They will also learn useful gymnastics words, how a practice meet works, and why listening to a qualified coach is always important.
Most importantly, Riley shows the new gymnasts that falling, wobbling, and making mistakes are all part of learning. You do not have to be fearless, perfect, or the best gymnast in the gym-you simply have to keep trying safely.
Featuring positive lessons about courage, patience, teamwork, confidence, and perseverance, Riley Davis: My First Gymnastics Adventure is perfect for aspiring gymnasts, young sports fans, and families preparing for a child's first gymnastics class.
Includes a beginner gymnastics checklist, helpful vocabulary, safety reminders, and an encouraging preview of Riley's next adventure.
