Something like scifi, fantasy and entwicklungsroman
Something like science fiction, fantasy, entwicklungsroman and a girls journey and fight for freedom and self-awarenes. Hopkinson has no need for constantly likeable, pleasant or correct characters, they work because they feel real. A very intriguing world with much love for the karribean culture in the story and the language, what makes it feel even more real.
