    Geradezu außerweltlich gut... und ebenso schaurig!

    Im Zuge der Sandman-Serie verlangte es mich danach, auch einige der anderen Werke von Neil Gaiman erneut zu entdecken - bei Coraline, einem ganz wundervollen Buch aus seiner Feder, stolperte ich nun über diese mir bisher unbekannte Adaption als Graphic Novel... und ich muss gestehen, dass mir diese sogar NOCH besser als das Buch gefällt! P. Craig Russel fängt die Atmosphäre in seinen Bildern so unfassbar perfekt ein und entführt uns unwiderstehlich in ein ebenso fantastisches wie schauriges, modernes Märchen, das gleichermaßen nachdenklich und spannend ist! Sprachlich für alle mit gutem Schulenglisch entspannt lesbar und wie immer bei Gaimans Erzählungen ein Leuchtfeuer der Fantasie!

    Beautiful classic

    I watched the movie first and was hoping for the book to be good … What can I say? I liked it even more! It is such a beautiful “Alice in wonderland”-like tale that adds a darker and thus deeper touch to the idea of “girl escaping into a world behind a portal” theme. It is a good read full of wisdom that will be enjoyed by children as well as adults. (I was also happy to find an interesting comment by the author at the end of the book, telling us more about the idea and working process behind “Coraline”.)

    dark and creepy in the best way

    Coraline is a young girl who feels very bored in her family‘s new flat and goes exploring. She stumbles across a door that leads her to another flat that looks exactly like her own. Only it’s different. The „other“ parents are already waiting on the other side…

    "Oh Caroline, Caroline... you are in terrible danger"

    I always wanted to watch Coraline but I just couldn't find it on any streaming platforms... so I got this book and it was totally worth it. The story was amazing, thrilling and (of course) spooky through and through.

    perfectly spookey

    So before reading this book, I’d never seen the movie adaptation, so I did not know what to expect, but it was recommended to me a lot. This is definitely a children’s book for older kids and adults. It is kind of a spooky fairytale. After reading the book, I watched the movie and the movie is amazing, but the book is definitely even better! I will definitely read more from Neil Gaiman.
