Wild Instinct is a sequel to Running Wild, in which a group of werewolves decided to break with tradition giving shelter to human werewolf-couples and mixed breeds. Those would usually be outcasts in werewolf society. In this anthology, three women are fighting for their lives because some very brutal traditional werewolves are after them. Three werewolves from the new pack help them. The three novellas concentrate on one couple each, always telling a love story with some erotic scenes and a bit of plot and action. That's also my problem with the book: There's really only a bit of story and not much going on when it comes to plot or character development. Sarah McCarty can write great novels with intense stories and characters. Maybe it's just that novellas don't leave a lot of room for that, but this is the first McCarty book I was mostly disappointed in. It's still above a lot of the paranormal romance novels out there, but she can definitely do better.
