Ioannis Tzetzae Antehomerica, Homerica Et Posthomerica is a book written by the Greek scholar John Tzetzes and published in 1793. The book is a collection of literary works that Tzetzes had compiled throughout his life, including his own commentaries on the works of Homer and other ancient Greek authors. The first part of the book, Antehomerica, contains Tzetzes' own poetry and prose, which he wrote in the style of the ancient Greek poets. The second part, Homerica, is a collection of Tzetzes' commentaries on the works of Homer, including the Iliad and the Odyssey. Tzetzes provides insights into the characters, themes, and symbolism of these epic poems, as well as historical and cultural context. The final part of the book, Posthomerica, includes Tzetzes' commentaries on other ancient Greek authors, such as Hesiod, Pindar, and Euripides. Tzetzes also includes his own poetry and prose in this section, as well as his interpretations of various myths and legends.Overall, Ioannis Tzetzae Antehomerica, Homerica Et Posthomerica is a valuable resource for scholars of ancient Greek literature and mythology, providing insights into the works of Homer and other important authors of the time. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
