The Complaint of Scotland is a historical book written by John Leyden in the year 1801. The book describes the political and economic situation of Scotland during the late 18th century. It is a collection of poems, songs, and speeches that were written by Scottish nationalists who were dissatisfied with the British government's treatment of Scotland. Leyden, who was a Scottish poet and linguist, compiled these works to highlight the grievances of the Scottish people. He covers various topics such as the loss of Scottish autonomy, the suppression of Scottish culture and language, and the economic exploitation of Scotland by England. The book is a powerful call to action for Scottish nationalists and serves as a reminder of the struggles faced by the Scottish people in their fight for independence. Leyden's work is considered a significant contribution to Scottish literature and a valuable historical document. Overall, The Complaint of Scotland is a passionate and insightful book that sheds light on the political and cultural tensions between Scotland and England during the late 18th century. It is a must-read for anyone interested in Scottish history, culture, and politics.Written In 1548, With A Preliminary Dissertation, And Glossary. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
