The book of Acts has served as the foundational biblical text for the development of Pentecostal theology and biblical studies since the outpouring of the Spirit at the Azuza Street Revival in 1906. Now, over one hundred years have past since the Azuza Street Revival and the book of Acts is still at the forefront of the Pentecostal dialogue. Trajectories in Acts draws together the work of leading Pentecostal scholars each bringing their expertise to bear in tracing and developing trajectories in Acts. These essays have been brought together as a Festschrift in order to celebrate the influence, scholarship, and teaching career of John Wesley Wyckoff, a noted figure in the Assemblies of God and a known voice in the Pentecostal dialogue. ""Finally! A set of Pentecostal readings of Luke-Acts that not only engages the texts dear to Pentecostals but interacts with the broad scope of Luke's narrative, and does so with hermeneutical skill and creative insight. Herein we have Pentecostal tongues translated for a broader readership-non-Pentecostal biblical scholars should take notice."" --Amos Yong Regent University School of Divinity ""Anyone familiar with Pentecostals knows full well the importance they place on Acts for their theology and praxis. Contributors to this volume address enduring questions surrounding Lukan pneumatology, missions, and hermeneutics, but alongside contemporary scholarship and current ecclesial concerns. The essayists implore not only Pentecostals but all Christians to give careful consideration to Luke's message for the twenty-first century."" --Martin Mittelstadt, Evangel University Paul Alexander is Professor of Theology and Ethics at Azusa Pacific University and the author of Peace to War: Shifting Allegiances in the Assemblies of God and Signs and Wonders: Why Pentecostalism is the World's Fastest Growing Faith, and co-founder of Pentecostals & Charismatics for Peace & Justice.
