Arthur Stanwood Pier (1874-1966) was an American author, educator, and journalist. He is best known for writing novels and stories about life in New England and the world of academia, often drawing on his experiences at institutions like Harvard University, where he was a graduate and later worked as an instructor. His works frequently explored themes of morality, personal growth, and the challenges of youth, particularly in educational settings. Pier also wrote biographies and was involved in the literary scene of his time. Some of his notable works include The Pedagogues, The Ancient Grudge, and Harding of St. Timothy's, a story set in a fictional boarding school. His writings were often praised for their insight into the lives of students and the ethical dilemmas they face.
