    Buch (Taschenbuch)

Never heard of the Greatcoates before, have you?

This book waited far too long until I took the time to read it (you know, the new books keep incoming and it's not always easy to decide what to read first). Anyways, I'm glad I finally gave it a go and as I knew when I first bought this book years ago: It's an awesome read! I loved the world building, the characters and how the past gets told in between the current events. Even though there exists magic in this world, it's not too heavy on the magic system (rather our main character Falcio hates magic and can't explain how it works anyway), instead the sword fights are described in great detail. People who don't like sword fights might not get the kick out of this book, but I for sure did even though I'm no swordmanship enthusiast. I really enjoyed the interactions between Falcio, Kest and Brasti, the great understanding they have of each other and how they work together. Although at one point I was almost screaming: "Don't split the party!" - they did exactly that nevertheless - I was pleasantly surprised how the story developed. And for sure, there are twists and turns which our protagonist didn't see coming and I quite loved that. I really liked the flow of the book, how Falcio tells the story and how the end of the books leaves me craving for more stories about the Greatcoates. At least I was smart enough to buy the other books of the series.
