We Are Okay

Ich habe mich entschieden, das Buch zu lesen, weil es von vielen Leuten empfohlen wurde und der Klappentext mich angesprochen hat. Das Buch hat mich direkt abgeholt, da es sehr angenehm zu lesen ist und es ein großes Interesse für die Geschichte geweckt hat. Es war eine schöne, traurige und emotionale Reise und ich bin dankbar, es gelesen zu haben. Es ist zwar das erste Mal, dass ich das Buch gelesen habe, aber sicher nicht das letzte Mal. Ich kann es nur empfehlen!

ein echt tolles Buch, ich fand den Schreibstil wunderschön. Auch sehr gut geeignet für Leser die nicht ganz so gut in Englisch sind oder ein kurzes Buch lesen wollen.

If you like character driven plots and you get easily caught up in stories about relationships and emotions, then you should read this book ASAP! There's nothing really bad that I could say about this book, but there are plenty of good things we can talk about: I liked how short it was, because you never feel like you're reading something unimportant to the plot. The writing is just great: Nina laCour doesn't use big words, neither does she elaborate too much about the ongoings. But even without that, the language she uses is just beautiful, slightly melancholic and colourful but it never feels cringy. I liked that there were mentions of queer relationships, but how they never have been really relevant to the story. I liked the use of today’s technology. I liked how I totally could identify with the feelings of loss (doesn't matter if it's about losing yourself or someone dear to you) and the desire to belong somewhere. And above everything else, I LOVED how real everything felt: how real the characters were; how relatable their decisions, even the really bad ones and how gripping their emotions were.

A beautifully written story about Marin growing up with her grandfather. Little by little you learn more about him and why Marin had to leave. A very atmospheric novel about love, friendship and overcoming loneliness.
