Power, loyalty, and survival thread through the story of one remarkable English house. From the Norman Conquest to the threshold of the Tudor period, few families mirror the making of a kingdom like the Russells. These lives shaped a kingdom. In Historical Memoirs Of The House Of Russell (Volume I), Jeremiah Holmes Wiffen traces the duke of Bedford family history from its earliest recorded forebears, blending english noble family biography with meticulous british aristocracy genealogy. Drawing on chronicles, state papers and family records, he offers russell family historical memoirs that serve as a primary source historical reference for medieval and early modern England, illuminating the political, religious and social currents that carried the Bedford House of Russell from relative obscurity towards national influence. First published in the Victorian age, this classic Victorian history book remains prized by scholarly biography readers, local historians, and anyone fascinated by the great houses of Britain. Out of print for decades and now republished by Alpha Editions. Restored for today's and future generations. More than a reprint - a collector's item and a cultural treasure, suited alike to academic history research collection shelves and to the personal libraries of readers seeking a distinguished collectors edition history book.
