The Shadow Murders A Department Q Novel

I began reading this book with mixed feelings. In my opinion, the previous one was not quite as successful as I had first thought. Also, the beginning felt tedious and long-winded, and progress was slow. It didn’t encourage me to move on, the cold case that was investigated didn’t impress me much. Finally close to the middle of the book, yes very late, that’s where the magic happened. Suddenly the investigative team got its grip back because Rose took her place in the spotlight. She has always been a strong force in Department Q, trustworthy and inventive in many ways. In Shadow Murders, she steps out of the shadow and takes up a well-deserved role as the force in solving the case. On more than one occasion I had the feeling that Carl Morck let her take over gladly, as he is involved in more than one case. Naturally, the story ends with a cliffhanger, so we have to read the next and final book of the series.
