Finally the sequel to "Firekeeper´s Daughter" is here!
This was one of my most anticipated reads of this year and I surely can say, it was worth the wait.
In Angeline Boulley´s first book we were introduced to Daunis and got to hear her story - now in this book, we follow Perry Firekeeper-Birch, Daunis' niece.
Everything I loved about Boulley´s debut is also present in this one: How much you learn about the Ojibwe tribe and indigenous traditions and culture, the element of suspense and the pace of this books, as well as great character development.
This book contains a lot of forgotten but important information about the history of the ancestors of Ojibwe.
I love how strong and unapologetic Perry as a main character is - it´s so refreshing!
!Trigger Warning!: Even though this is a young adult novel, there are mentions of physical violence and rape, especially against young indigenous females. This is mostly based on true happenings, so it´s important to know, but definetly not easy and light to read about.
