    A Fave

I stumbled upon this book by accident and fell in love. The heart pounding way this book makes you want to fight for every woman around is insane. It's terrifying in ways I can't imagine a man knowing. Props to this male writer for capturing something so vulnerable about the AFAB experience.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

    Feminist horror story

If there was not a male name as the author on the book cover, I could have believed this story was written by a woman. There are mainly female, bold characters in this feminist story, guys and the world itself are the bad ones here. It's a story about witchcraft, and friendship and coming-of-age. The girls explore witchcraft as a medium to fight for their own rights. As underage youth, the home will not let them any rights over their body or the future of their babies. Abortion will not be discussed. Instead, the young girls serve as a baby factory for childless couples who are eager to adopt a baby. There are explicit scenes about childbirth. If you have not experienced childbirth, you might be traumatized after it. I would not recommend this book for pregnant women who are pregnant for the first time. Some scenes might be disturbing. Ferns development throughout the story is very impressive. At first, she only wants to get good grades and wants to get home. Then she stands up for herself. I liked her a lot. Each of the girls have to carry her own package, but together, they are stronger. The ending is really epic. A great horror book, brilliantly written.

    Do not read as horror

As a horror lover I was disappointed, but it’s good enough as historical fiction… Think witches as in “the craft” and you will not be rooting for the witches, which I usually like to do.

    A crazy good 2025 Favorite

Witchcraft for Wayward Girls is about teenage girls becoming mothers and then going back to being teenage girls. But it also is about revenge, finding out that the world can be very unfair, that sometimes you have to give up your own wishes in order to help someone and... just so much more then Witchcraft. I loved, loved loved this so much! Hendrix wrote a book that made me squirm, laugh and get so, so angry, all alongside with the girls. God, how angry I was with how the girls were treated, not just by the male doctors but also female nurses. And to think that places like this existed. There is so much happening that it's hard to put it all together into 1 or 2 sentences but if you love weird horror, getting angry at society and sticking together trough good and bad times, then this book might be for you.
