What Lies Beyond the Veil

Ich kann die andere Bewertung absolut nicht nachvollziehen. Die Spannung zwischen dem Male lead und Estrella war perfekt, es hat mich verrückt gemacht, fertig gemacht, wieder aufgebaut und auseinandergerissen. Das Buch ist super, die Charaktere haben alle eine eigene, tiefe Geschichte, der plot twist war perfekt. Die Geschichte ist spannend und wurde perfectly executed.

Now, she lives in poverty with her mother and brother on the lands of a cruel lord who has been grooming her since she was a child. Terrified and trapped, Estrella faces an impossible choice — and just when things couldn’t get any worse, the Veil falls. As monstrous creatures are unleashed upon the world, Estrella and her brother flee, only to be cornered by the Wild Hunt. They’re saved by a mysterious stranger, Caelum — handsome, enigmatic, and far more than he seems. Estrella is drawn to him in ways she doesn’t understand, and together they embark on a dangerous journey to find human survivors and hide from the Fae. Personally, I found the pacing too slow. Much of the story revolves around Estrella and Caelum traveling, but not much actually happens. The plot felt predictable and lacked anything that hasn’t been done many times before — which isn’t necessarily a deal-breaker, but the writing didn’t pull me in as I’d hoped. Overall, it felt rather mediocre. At times, I found the story boring and the romance didn’t quite land for me. Some of Caelum’s dialogue even came off as cringey to me. The last 20% of the book does pick up quite a bit, though, and I found that section much more engaging. I usually love a morally grey Fae, but somehow Caelum just didn’t do it for me. Estrella, on the other hand, was a strong and relatable main character, even if a bit too subservient for my taste. I listened to the audiobook, and while the narrator’s voice suited the FMC perfectly, I didn’t love her attempt at the male voices — it took away from Caelum’s character and likely affected my overall rating. I’m not sure yet if I’ll continue with the series. Story: 2.75 ⭐️ Spice: 3.5

"Tell me again how much you don't want me, my star. I do so love the way you lie." - S.228 Caelum Schon mal was von smut gehört?hahaha hier haben wir eine große Portion. Ich möchte euch Estrella und Caelum gar nicht so genau vorstellen. Bildet euch selbst eine Meinung. Für mich ist das hier guilty pleasure borders to "nop but Yeah" Es ist so voller spice, voller Witz und brenzliger Situationen ich weiß gar nicht wohin mit mir. Aber an manchen Stellen war schon die Frage, ob man nicht lieber reden sollte statt vor anderen seinen Spaß zu haben? Nicht das ich keinen Spaß mit den Wortgefechten der beiden gehabt hätte, oder ihre Reise und Entscheidungen nicht spannend fand. Ich wusste nur nicht so recht, was die Geschichte mir erzählen will. Zum Ende hin haben wir dann auch einen Punkt erreicht, wo ich was von der Welt zufassen bekommen habe, neben der Häppchen die davor kamen. Natürlich gibt es einen sehr dramatischen Cliffhanger und ich habe jetzt Band zwei aufm sub weil ich wissen will wohin das Buch führt, außer zu verdammt viel "zwischen prota Liebe"

-Charaktere haben keine Tiefe bzw. überhaupt etwas, das man Charakter nennen kann -Plotholes/ Handlungen/ Beschreibungen passen nicht zusammen u.a. durch zu schnelles Fortschreiten der Handlung -männlicher Lead ist einfach irgendwie nur eklig mit seinem Verhalten und seinen Aussagen -mir fehlen bessere Worte, aber es liest sich wie eine FanaFiction, in der die Autorin sich selbst mit dem männlichen Lead sieht und nur das die Story ist und alles drumherum unwichtiger Filler Habe das Buch noch vor der Hälfte abgebrochen, weil es zum Haare ausreißen war. Sehr schade nachdem ich einige Zitate im Internet aus dem Buch gelesen hatte, hatte ich mich so darauf gefreut, aber es war einfach enttäuschend.
