Loved every word of the story
Titus is a shopkeeper who, upon making a delivery, finds himself marrying his elderly customer on her deathbed, and subsequently inheriting her fortune. Having been thrown in at the deep end and everyone from former and new acquaintances to estranged family wanting a piece of him, or rather his fortune, Titus has trouble finding his feet.
Nico is a French noble who's fallen on hard times and was supposed to marry the elderly lady whose fortune Titus now owns. Instead of asking for money he's offering to show Titus the ropes, or How to Fake It in Society.
Told in third person from Titus' and Nico's POV. Both MCs felt fleshed out nicely. There is a good cast of secondary characters. I enjoy KJC's writing and the research that went into crafting this novel. Actually, I enjoyed the novel so much, I started listening to the audiobook as soon as it was available on the publishing day of the US edition; narrator Will Watt did an excellent job.
