Wirklich cooles interessantes „Magie“-System.
Band

Fesselnd
Ich habe „The Will of the Many“ von James Islington wirklich geliebt.

Stronger Together
The Will of the Many is not a book you simply read. It has a will of its own and pulls you relentlessly into a rigidly hierarchical world where freedom is barely an option.
Vis is an orphan who refuses to relinquish himself to the system, driven by a deep desire to avenge the death of his family. That inner resistance makes him dangerous—it captures the attention of Ulciscor Telimus, who adopts him in an effort to uncover the truth behind his brother’s death and to locate an ancient weapon rumored to be hidden on the island of Solivagus. Vis is sent to the Catenan Academy, where the most gifted children of powerful families are trained, tested, and shaped to one day rule society.
Navigating a landscape of constant danger and relentless obstacles, Vis is never certain whom he can trust. Yet within that uncertainty, loyalty emerges in unexpected places. As he is pulled further into a dangerous game of life and death—and deeper into the heart of power—what he uncovers proves older, larger, and more shattering than he could have imagined, challenging not only the system, but the very foundations of the world itself.
Immersive and layered, The Will of the Many is epic fantasy driven by ideas, moral tension, and a protagonist whose greatest strength is not power, but an unbreakable will.

The flaws of an empire...
“Silence is a statement, Diago. Inaction picks a side. And when those lead to personal benefit, they are complicity.” A gripping story about power, oppression and corruption and a clever allegory for how systemic oppression breeds rebellion. It's so obviously inspired by real world history, unbelievably gripping and makes you root for the main character from the get-go. Perfect for fans of ‘the Name of the Wind’. “A fair system only works if there’s an unbiased means of assessing merit. When there is no pride or selfishness involved. Which means that fair systems cannot exist where people are involved.”

Highlight
"The decision may have been made by the few, Diago, but it’s the Will of the many that killed your family."

A profound, ground-breaking novel!
'The Will of the Many' is one of those books you don't forget easily.
In this novel, Islington elegantly combines magnificent worldbuilding, complex, loveable characters and a thrilling narrative, all the while exploring difficult topics like the aftermath of colonialism.
Genuinely one of the best Fantasy books I've ever read!
