This volume presents the first German translation of "Teologia politica" by the philosopher Merio Scattola (1962-2015), along with an introduction by Luise Schorn-Schütte. Scattola was a professor of political philosophy at the University of Padua, Italy. In his text, he traces the conceptual history of political theology from antiquity through the 20th century. In doing so, he departs from the perspective of Carl Schmitt, which has been dominant in research to date. His conceptual history serves as an introduction to the subject of political theology and is also a handbook for understanding contemporary debates in Europe.
