In this collection of short stories, we meet many people who are like us and live lives almost identical to our own. In one story, we meet two strangers: one carrying a dog and hurrying along, and the other doing nothing but digging in the sweltering heat. In another, we see a woman watching her daughter give birth from afar, and we wonder why she's so distant. Then, in a third story, we see a woman who loves to write but doesn't know whether to pursue this dream or succumb to another kind of temptation. We also see two siblings, a brother and sister, sitting in their car, watching a house and reminiscing about their past. Then, a girl takes the train to Moscow, fleeing something she doesn't want anyone to discover. In another story, a woman meets a young man who reminds her a lot of her father, but who is he really? We read another story about a woman who has emigrated to another country and is trying to adapt to a foreign culture, but will she succeed? And we travel with a girl carrying a backpack, moving from place to place, telling us about everything that happens to her at each stop. Finally, a house on a farm, with a woman living alone, and a man living far away, but who never leaves this woman's memories, so we wonder about the relationship between them.
