Girl, Interrupted Now a major motion picture from Columbia Pictures starring Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie

The book is short, but way more detailed than the movie! I love the writing style and the end was also kind of emotional. I also liked that it’s described why the book is named ‘girl, interrupted’ and it was very interesting to read. I definitely recommend for such a low price! (If you love the movie, you should def get it!)

luv it!! definetly recommend, although some parts can be a bit extreme. her experiences are very intriguing and overall its interesting to see what mental health care in the Us looked like during the 60ts. very good book

This book takes you through so many different emotions. It makes you feel tense, sad and angry. It makes you laugh and a few sentences later you’re upset again. Still keep in mind while reading that this is based on a true story and how mental health has been treated almost sixty years ago. So some points (and idioms) of this novel are clearly outdated. But I was most impressed with the ending of this book and how the author brilliantly explains the insides of her brain, her feelings and her sickness.

I bought the book because I loved the movie. But in the end the book kinda disappointed me. I expected it to be more like a story and less than a collection of "short stories". I also was disappointed in how much the book and the movie differ from each other.

This book is an interesting journey into the complexities of mental health, identity, and the blurred lines between sanity and madness. Kaysen's writing is raw, honest, and deeply introspective, drawing readers into a world that feels both unsettling and incredibly human. The way she captures the voices and struggles of the patients in the psychiatric ward feels authentic, and you can’t help but empathize with each of their unique stories. What really stands out in the book is Kaysen’s ability to balance vulnerability with dark humor, creating a narrative that is as thought-provoking as it is compelling. The psychological depth of the characters, particularly Kaysen herself, makes this book a rich exploration of what it means to be labeled "insane" by society—and how that label often doesn’t tell the full story. As someone who also loved the movie adaptation, I can say that the book offers a much deeper, more nuanced understanding of the protagonist’s inner world. Both versions share a unique, almost haunting vibe, but the novel gives you more insight into Kaysen’s own thoughts and the complexities of the psychiatric institution. Overall, Girl, Interrupted is a masterpiece that stays with you long after you’ve finished reading. Whether you're looking for a story that explores mental health or simply want a beautifully written, thought-provoking book, this one delivers on all fronts.
