This volume presents Books 8-13 of Nonnus of Panopolis's epic poem, the "Dionysiaca," which recounts the life and adventures of the god Dionysus. Compiled and edited by Georg Heinrich Moser, this work focuses on the Bacchic events leading up to Dionysus's Indian expedition. The "Dionysiaca" is celebrated for its intricate verse, rich mythological detail, and its significant contribution to late antique Greek literature. This edition offers scholars and enthusiasts a valuable resource for understanding Nonnus's unique poetic style and his influence on subsequent literature. It remains a crucial text for those studying classical mythology, epic poetry, and the cultural landscape of the ancient world.
