This may be the lesbian christmas story!
Patricia Highsmith captures the youth and innocence of Therese perfectly. Her writing style is so gentle and almost dreamy that you feel as if you're watching the whole thing right out of Therese's head. The characters in generaly are written so realistically that you'll fall for Carol too. Big big recommandation, if you read it during christmas time or whenever! This is the first lesbian novel with a (somewhat) happy end; where the solution isn't heterosexuality or suicide! (It was first published in 1952)
